What is MyChart?

MyChart offers patients personalized and secure online access to portions of their medical records. It enables you to securely use the Internet to help manage and receive information about your health. With MyChart, you can use the Internet or Mobile device to:

Who can sign up for MyChart?

MyChart is now available at Texas Childrenís Pediatrics, Texas Childrenís Hospital and Texas Childrenís Pavilion for Women. Any patient family at those locations can enroll in MyChart by going to the practice or clinic and request a proxy account. Parents or guardians can request proxy access to their childrenís accounts. Patients 18 years and over may go online and Request Activation Code by completing the MyChart Access Request form.

Your test results from participating providers are released at the provider's discretion. You may send a medical advice message requesting your test results be made available in MyChart.

If some of my health information on MyChart is not correct, what should I do?

Your MyChart information comes directly from your electronic medical record. You can contact MyChart Customer Service at 1-877-361-0111 regarding any incorrect information.

If I send a message to my doctor or nurse, when can I expect a reply?

Your message will be responded to within 1-3 business days. Please note that MyChart should not be used for urgent situations. Please call your clinic if the situation requires immediate attention or dial 911 if it is an emergency.

May I schedule an appointment for a doctorís visit in MyChart?

At this time, you can request an appointment with participating providers through MyChart. Our staff will then schedule the appointment.

Yes, you will receive a confirmation message with the exact date and time of your appointment.

Yes. You can view the details of your upcoming appointment and even confirm your appointment.

May I cancel a clinic appointment in MyChart?

You may send us a message to request that we cancel the appointment. We will contact you via MyChart message or phone call to complete the cancellation process. Please be courteous to our staff and to other patients by canceling appointment as far in advance as possible. If your appointment falls within the next 36 hours, please call your providerís office to cancel your appointment.

May I view a family member's health record in MyChart?

Yes. This is called Proxy access and allows parents or legal guardians of minor children (age 18 years and younger) access to sections of their childís medical records..

Proxy access can also be used by legal guardians or caregivers with Durable Power of Attorney for healthcare of dependent adults access to sections of their loved ones medical record.

To obtain Proxy access you will need to request access in person at the clinic.

May I ask questions regarding a family member from my personal tab at the top of my MyChart account?

No. MyChart offers direct access to your personal health record and communicating about another individual's information would be placed in your health record. This information would not appear in the correct health record and could potentially jeopardize medical care. Please only ask questions via the particular patient tab at the top of the page for the family member in question.

You may click the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page to reset your password online.

Can you send me a new activation code if I have lost it, let it expire or did not receive it?

Call MyChart Customer Service at 1-877-361-0111 and after we verify your information, a new code will be sent via email.

Log into your personal MyChart account and from the left menu, go to the Preferences section and select the appropriate option.

How secure is MyChart?

All communication between you and Texas Childrenís using MyChart is carried over a secure, encrypted connection. Encryption means the information is encoded in such a way that no one can read it during transmission. This secure connection utilizes industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption. Your health records are stored behind a firewall to prohibit unauthorized access. In addition, MyChart access requires a unique username and password that you create.

How is my privacy maintained?

MyChart is owned and operated by Texas Children's and is fully compliant with federal and state laws pertaining to your privacy. Your name and e-mail address will be kept private and confidential and will never be sold or released by MyChart.

What do I need to use MyChart?

All you need is access to a computer, an email account, and an Internet connection. JavaScript must be enabled in your web browser. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, we recommend using at least version 8, and the site will look best in version 9 or later.

My activation code does not work. What should I do?

For your security, your activation code expires after 60 days and is no longer valid after the first time you use it. If your activation code has expired, call the MyChart Help Line at 1-877-361-0111. This service is available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Is my activation code my username?

No, your activation code is not your MyChart username or password. You will use this code only once to log into MyChart for the first time. (The code will expire after you have used it or after 60 days). When you log into MyChart the first time, you will then be asked to create your own unique MyChart username and password.

I forgot my MyChart username. How do I get a new one?

At the sign-in screen for MyChart, click "Forgot MyChart Username?" You will be asked for your first name, last name, date of birth, and email address. A message with your MyChart username will be sent to your personal e-mail address on file. You may also call the MyChart Help Line at 1-877-361-0111. This service is available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
